US Pullout from Afghanistan

President Barack Obama announced the withdrawal of 30.000 troops in Afghanistan by the November 2012 elections. He wants an end to the long conflict that has been more costly than ever envisioned, launched in response to the 9/11 attacks on the United States.



President Obama announced steps for a phased pullout of 100,000 troops from Afghanistan to end a costly war launched after the September 11, 2001.
On the other hand, the Afghan Taliban dismissed Obama’s announcement as symbolic and said only a full, urgent withdrawal of the US and foreign forces could stop “pointless bloodshed”. The  Taliban said the proposal would not solve anything.
