Libyan Government: We need Gaddafi

The Libyan Government stated that they agree with all political reforms on condition that Gaddafi remains in power. To them, Gaddafi must remain in the power to avoid a new Iraq or Somalia.

A spokesman told that Gaddafi was the unifying character and he never attacked civilians, he just attacked on armed rebels. The Libyan leader has reportedly appeared in public in Tripoli.

Fighting has gone on in the east of the country where the rebels have been trying to regain ground lost in recent days, and coalition aircraft attacked military vehicles which are  believed to belong to Colonel Gaddafi’s forces.

The oil-rich country’s vital coastal belt is now split into two; the east side is controlled by the rebel forces and government loyalists control Tripoli and the west side.
