Thirteen Afghan civilians, including children, were killed and thirty three civilians wounded as their passenger bus was hit by a roadside bomb on Thursday in west of Afghanistan, police said on Friday.
The bomb in Khash Rod district of western Nimroz province is said to have been planted by the Taliban, according to provincial police chief Abdul Jabar Purdeli.
In the year of 2010, violence throughout Afghanistan hit its worst levels since the Taliban were toppled by U.S.-backed Afghan forces in late 2001. Military deaths hit record levels in 2010.
