First Contact by Israel and New Egyptian Leadership

The first contact between Israel and new Egyptian leadership was made.
Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised that they would stand by Egypt's peace treatment. Ehud Barak, Israeel Defense Minister and  Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, head of Egypt’s Higher Military Council, spoke on the telephone. 

Mr. Netanyahu stated that he was glad that Egypt's military rule would respect all the Egypt's international treaties. 

Netanyahu mentioned about the importance of the peace treaty between Israel and Egypt. He told that this was important not only for two countries, but also for the region as well. 

Egypt was the first country to sign a peace agreement with Israel.
